The four explanations of garment accessories
The First Explanation.
Someone says, all is garment accessories except for the shell fabric and lining. Actually it is not right exactly, because the lining is the earliest garment accessories.
The second explanation.
It is more popular explanation on internet at present.
Clothing is a project including the production and design. One of the most important process is material selection , material is divided into the fabric cloth and other accessories. Here other accessories are called garment accessories.
The garment accessories are the essential elements to extend the function of clothes, and decorate the clothing, including zipper, button, ribbon, shoulder pads, lace, interlining, lining, clothing hanger, hang tags, decorations, panel strip, tailor's chalk, hook buckle, fur, clothing labels, strings, filler, plastic parts, metal accessories, packaging, printed label, bar code sticker, sticker and other related accessories, etc.
The third explanation.
Except for the shell fabric, all of the materials used for clothing are named as garment accessories. It mainly includes interlining, lining, zippers, buttons, metal fasteners, strings, trademarks, wadding and padding, etc.
As per the different function, garment accessories can be divided into seven categories.
1, Lining: cotton, silk, viscose, acetate filament, synthetic filament.
2, Interlining: cotton, linen, fur and bristle, haircloth, resin interlining, adhesive interlining
3, Padding: Chest pads, neck pads, shoulder pads, hip pads.
4, Filler: Cotton wadding and other material.
5, Sewing thread: cotton sewing thread, silk sewing thread, polyester sewing thread, cotton blended sewing thread, embroidery thread, metallic yarn, special sewing thread.
6, Fastening materials: buttons, zippers and other fastening materials.
7, Other materials: string materials, decorative materials, marking materials, packaging materials

It’s the complete comprehensive to garment accessories at present.
Except for the shell fabric, all others can be clothing accessories., It generally includes lining, interlining, padding, clothing labels, fashion belts, sewing thread, fasten material, packaging material.
Washing Instruction
- Clothing label is also named as durability label, it is mainly for consumer’s reference of composition of raw material and washing way, so that they can maintain the clothing correctly. From the clothing label, it is easy to know the clothing quality, and clothing character. For the washing symbol, it clearly shows the correct washing way for different clothing, more powerful.
- Generally all finished clothing has kinds of clothing labels and tags, which has a guiding significance for consumers. For example, for consumer’s brand understanding, there are trademarks attached on the collar and cuff. And at the neckline, the size label will be stitched, so that the consumer selects the correct size as per it. The hangtag will be hanged at the visible position, with all clothing information. But, the small clothing label stitched in the clothing seam is more important than above all, it plays a key role on maintaining the clothing.
- We are always confused by these different washing symbols on the clothing labels. But actually, there are only 5 categories commonly after observed carefully. Washing symbol, is decided and evolved by the trough, sometimes it’s the number-water temperature, sometimes it’s a hand or a cross. If the number in the trough, means to wash the clothing under this number. If it’s a hand, means to wash the clothing by hand softly. If a cross in trough, means can’t be washed. Such as, cotton and linen clothing is easy to shrink, chemical fiber and blended fabric is easy to dry, and clothing with metal ornaments is easy to damage when washing. However, they all can be washed by water.
What you need to remember, is the circle design. As for the different letter inside, it is only the requirement for the dry-clean material. If there is a cross on the circle, please never uses dry-clean. The silk or wool clothing is easy to tarnish. And the silk with hollow-out and flower is easy to shrink and distort badly, so they all have the dry-clean symbols.
If there is a design of triangle or the triangle conical flask, the clothes can be blenched, but the cross on it, it cannot be blenched. Blencher can decompose the fiber, so it only can use on the cotton fabric clothing. It is strongly suggested that no bleacher should be used to clean the garments unless have no alternative.
-Drip-dry is one of the maintenance methods for clothing. If the symbol is a clothing, means the clothing should be hung to be drip-dried. If the symbol is a clothing with shade, means clothing should be hung to be drip-dried. If a “P” symbol, it should be laid down to dry. A “P” symbol with shade means to lay down to dry in the shade. Flat symbol is suitable for cotton or knitting clothing, but clothing with chemical fabric is suitable for hanging.
The last step for clothing is ironing. The materials of the clothing show the different appearance in different temperature. Ripple symbol means to iron with placemat. Ripple with vertical line symbol means iron by steam. The iron temperature is displayed by the dots on the design, which needs to read clearly before ironing. One dot means the temperature should be lower than 110℃, two dots mean the temperature should be lower than 150℃ and the three dots mean the highest temperature is 200℃. Nature fabric has a good thermal endurance, can iron in a suitable temperature, but the chemical fiber fabric needs to iron with a placemat.
